History belongs to the victors and in the annals of rock & roll,
and Bo Diddley has definitely emerged as one of the greatest
winners of pure rock & roll. And let the truth be known, on lead
guitar he had Peggy Jones; she was the first female lead guitarist
in history to be hired by a major act.
Sad but true: On 2 June Bo Diddley died of heart failure in
Florida at the age of 79. The man who began his career as a
boxer, where he received the sobriquet "Bo Diddley", asked in
one of his most unforgettable songs: "Who do you love?" Well,
that's for everyone to decide for him- and herself. But what we
certainly can say is that we loved your music, Bo! In our ears
you will rock on. May you swing in Freizeit forever!
