Dublin, 06/06/05: against, all odds, i had a beautiful afternoon, ran into the Minimarathon, where ca. 46.000 women and some disguised men participated, and finally ended up at Dublin docks, in a nice café called Ocean. Some impressions of that below (click on pic to view full-size):

it's been a while since xbert moved to dublin, the capital of the 'most globalized country in the world' (fortnight, 2004). for him it has been a story of musical deprivation, and yes, misery. the sacrifice of 1 turntable was not the worst, but to play for shallow people who only want to listen and dance to humdrum even beats and get drunk all the time is not satisfactory, not at all, it's just boring! below are 3 pix of the bases thus far (click to enlarge!)

at the Institute for British Irish Studies (IBIS)' annual conference: "Implementing the Agreement: the North-South bodies five years on", which took place at University College Dublin on Friday 27 May 2005, and where Bert was in charge of the technical organisation. The Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister), Mr Bertie Ahern TD, gave the opening conference address - nothing special, just the usual politician-speak. Below are some pix (click to enlarge):

so what happened to me in the last few weeks in my dublin exile?
I found a new flat, saw ani difranco live (fab!), djed once in a club, got acquainted with the eastern approach towards life (party all night long!), and was up to my ears occupied with teaching and research work at ucd/issc. (2 pics below)

It's nearly 3 weeks now since I moved to Dublin, and after some major downfalls it has become my exile. Only the sky can tell how I feel (for impressions click on the pics below)!
